  • Bluesky without image and without URL link box

    Hello!

my issue is about posting a URL or IMAGE posting to Bluesky. All postings, I tried are created without the image, I transferred and without alternatively the complex link. Only a text link is created.

I tried the post layout with URL and with IMAGE. What could be the reason? I am using webp. Is this the cause? And if so, why doesn't the URL feature create a URL box with a link?

By the way: I did search for the Blusky forum here in Blog2Social. Maybe you want to add it?

    Best regards,

    Hello,

    Thank you for your message.

Could you please send us the exact URL you tried to share on Bluesky?

Also, have you already tested posting this URL directly on Bluesky, without Blog2Social? This would help to check whether Bluesky itself creates a preview box with an image for this URL.

Please also test the image once as JPG or PNG instead of WebP, as WebP may not work reliably in all cases.

    Best regards,
    Blog2Social Support

        Hi,

Thank you for your feedback and for the additional details.

We are currently checking this case on our side.

One possible reason could be the image format, as the image on your website is provided as a WebP file:

        ...wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image23.webp

At this point, we cannot confirm yet that WebP is the exact cause, but we will include this in our technical check.

        Best regards,
        Blog2Social Support

          Hi,

Thank you for your feedback and for your private message.

We checked your URL again. At the moment, the preview data cannot be retrieved correctly from your website. When the URL is entered in the Blog2Social posting mask and the refresh button for the link preview is used, the server only returns the message “Just a moment...”. This usually indicates that the request is being blocked by a security or firewall protection, for example Cloudflare.

For Bluesky link posts, Blog2Social has to retrieve the Open Graph data from your website and pass the preview information to Bluesky. If this data cannot be accessed, the post may only be published with the plain text link instead of a full link box.

Please ask your hosting provider or website administrator to allow access for the Blog2Social server:

          IPv4: 178.77.85.168
          IPv6: 2a01:488:42:1000:b24d:55a8:ffb8

You can find more information here:

After the server access has been allowed, please test the URL again directly in the Blog2Social posting mask by entering the link and clicking the refresh button for the preview. If the preview is loaded there, it should very likely also work for Bluesky posts.

          Best regards,
          Blog2Social Support

I've added the IP-Adresses (but in the IPv6 has been a typo if I compare it to the FAQ-article. It seems to work now in the preview, but I did not publish yet. But now I discovered, that I was using the "image posting style" and I switched to "link posting style", which I prefer. I guess, both will solve the problems. Thank you so much.

            Best regards,

Even with LINK supplied and no picture, I see only a Text-Posting on Bluesky. Would be great, if we could solve this.

By the way, sometimes this also happens on Mastodon. Two times, the link was missing and I added I picture manually.

              Best regards

                Hi,

                Thank you for your feedback.

Could you please check the URL once again directly in the Blog2Social posting mask?

Please enter the URL in Blog2Social, use the link post format and click the refresh button for the link preview. The important point is:

Does Blog2Social show a proper link preview there, including title, description and image?

If the preview is not loaded correctly in the Blog2Social posting mask, the website/server may still be blocking the preview request, for example through Cloudflare or another security setting.

If the preview is shown correctly in Blog2Social, but the post is still published on Bluesky only as a plain text post, please send us a screenshot of the Blog2Social preview and the published Bluesky post. We will then check this further with our technical team.

The same would also be helpful for Mastodon if the issue occurs there as well.

                Best regards,
                Blog2Social Support

                  Hello,

I just tried to delete the additional image in a link post for Bluesky. When it is published in the evening, I will let you know.

When using the preview, the picture is shown in the preview, but not the URL-preview. I deleted the picture, but that did not help either.

                      Hi,

                      Thank you for your feedback.

Just to clarify this point: For a Bluesky link post, the relevant image is not a manually added image in the post preview. It is the image that is automatically retrieved from the URL you want to share.

                      Please test it this way:
                      1. Go to “All Posts” in Blog2Social.
                      2. Select “Link Post” at the top.
                      3. Enter only the URL of the article you want to share.
                      4. Refresh the link preview.

The important question is: Does Blog2Social show the automatically generated link preview there, including title, description and image?

If no image is shown in this link preview, the most likely reason is that the URL or preview request is still being blocked by something on your website/server side, for example by Cloudflare, a firewall or another security setting.

Please make sure that access for the Blog2Social server is allowed:

                      IPv4: 178.77.85.168
                      IPv6: 2a01:488:42:1000:b24d:55a8:ffb8:ccaf

The preview can only be created and passed to Bluesky if Blog2Social is able to retrieve the preview data from the URL. If the request is blocked, Bluesky may only receive and publish the plain text URL instead of a full link preview.

In our test, the preview data can be retrieved when the URL is accessible. Therefore, if the preview still does not appear in your Blog2Social posting mask, please ask your hosting provider to check which security setting may still be blocking the request.

                      Best regards,
                      Blog2Social Support

                        Hello Blog2Social Support,

I double checked the Cloudflare rules for your IPs, which I did set to the two IPs (IPv4 and IPv6).

In the preview of a link post, the images appears.
Also in the preview of a WordPress Post, as you may see in the screenshot attached.
Until now, all my postings to https://bsky.app/profile/maikendener.bsky.social did not contain any images.
I tried post format: Image first.
I tried post format: Link Post now.

Would be great, if we could find a solution. Thank you!

                          Hi,

Thank you for your feedback and for the additional information.

We are currently testing this further on our side.

At the moment, we also do not receive a proper link preview when we enter the URL as a link post from our side. However, the image itself should normally still be transferred to Bluesky.

We are checking this with our technical team and will get back to you as soon as we have more information.

                          Best regards,
                          Blog2Social Support

Hello, thank you for your kind invitation. I eventually can grant access to a staging site, that is not available at this point in time. Meanwhile, I could send you some screenshots, if this could help. What kind of information do you need?

                              Best regards
