  • Autoposting not working when using Wordpress REST API

    Hi,

We are using the official Wordpress REST API to create posts. Unfortunately, they are being ignored by Autoposting. Only if we create them as drafts (or in status pending) and publish them manually in the Wordpress Admin UI, the Autoposing kicks in.

Is there any way to make Autoposting work for post being created via API?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

    Thanks for reaching out.

That’s correct, there are two different sets of settings in the auto-poster:
The first auto-poster is triggered when clicking on “Publish” / “Schedule” in your WordPress backend post editor.
How do I auto-post and auto-schedule my own blog posts on social media?

The auto-poster for imported posts is triggered by the WP hook "transition_post_status" as soon as a new post is created on your website.
How do I auto-post imported or created blog posts from other plugins on Social Media?

In both cases it’s necessary to activate and set up the specific user which creates these posts since Blog2Social works WordPress user-based. Therefore, please make sure that every WordPress user (author) who publishes posts that should be auto-posted:
    1. is activated for Blog2Social Premium (How do I activate my license key?)
    2. has the networks connected (Blog2Social -> Networks)
    3. has the correct auto-post settings configured.

However, I’ll gladly add your suggestion to our feature list for future developments. If this can be implemented in a future update, we will let you know.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards

    Benedikt

      Hi Benedikt,

Thanks for answering... Unfortunately, the 2nd option (import) is not working for e.g. Instagram. Are there any plans to support more/all platforms?

        Hello,

        Thanks for your reply.

To ensure compliance with the high quality standards of the new networks’ API rules and community guidelines Instagram restricts auto-posting for automatically generated content which is the case for imported RSS feeds as well as automatically generated content via plugins.

However, if Instagram considers changing their guidelines regarding auto-posting, we will check if we can implement it for the Blog2Social auto-poster for imported posts. In this case, we will inform you.

        Best regards

        Benedikt

          Hi,

I see your point. But using the Wordpress API to publish posts by our own custom workflow is not equal to automatically generated content. Perhaps this option could still be made available with additional configuration incl. confirmation/agreement on autoposting policies.

            Hi,

yes, we understand your request and will take into consideration to enable this by using your own Instagram API interface. Would this be an option for you?

            Kind regards,

            Melanie

              Hi Melanie,

What do you mean by using your own Instagram API interface? A custom Facebook/Instagram App ID than can be configured in B2S? Or more a webhook that calls an external script where we have to take care of anything else? The latter wouldn't be really an option as we wouldn't need B2S for such a scenario. But if it is just about an own Facebook/Insta App, that would be fine of course.

                Thanks for your response.

I mean, using your own API App for Instagram on B2S. We already have this on our development list and will let you know when this should be available.

                Thanks for your input.
                Best regards,
                Melanie
