  • Autoposting from Plug-In : Workaround to get it to Instagram?

Hello B2S, your plugin has been great and it's been working great over the past 5 or 6 years to autopost to our Google, Facebook and Instagram business pages.

Recently, we are starting to autopost using API information that flows into a 3rd party plug in (WP WDFY) and that plug in automatically creates new wordpress blog post for us instead of us doing it manually.

I see that you have "Autoposter" settings that post to a wide range of social channels, and you have "Autoposter for Imported Posts" which only post to Facebook, Google and a few others. I have both of those enabled and in some early testing, I see our posts only going to Google and Facebook so I assume using a plug in is considered an "imported" post.

Are there any workarounds that would allow our posts to go to Instagram? Is there a way to make our post appear to be created manually or scheduled manually so that B2S plug in will send it over to Instagram? I see there are scheduling plugins that will by default schedule a post when created... would that trigger an Instagram post?

Any help would be appreciated as Instagram is our most important channel and currently your plug in no longer helps us if we can't get those posts to Instagram. Any advice is welcomed!

    Thank you!
    Eric

    Hello Eric,

    Thank you for reaching out.

There are two different sets of settings in the auto-poster:
The first auto-poster is triggered when clicking on “Publish” / “Schedule” in your WordPress backend post editor and supports all of your connected networks.
How do I auto-post and auto-schedule my own blog posts on social media?

The auto-poster for imported posts is triggered via the WordPress hook "transition_post_status" when your posts are created by other plugins or RSS feeds. This one supports the following networks:
    -Facebook (Profiles & Pages)
    -X (Twitter) (additional Add-on required)
    -Google Business
    -LinkedIn (Profiles & Pages)
-Telegram (additional Add-on or Business subscription required)
How do I auto-post imported or created blog posts from other plugins on Social Media?

To ensure compliance with the high quality standards of the new networks’ API rules and community guidelines Instagram restricts auto-posting for automatically generated content which is the case for imported RSS feeds as well as automatically generated content via plugins.

However, if Instagram considers changing their guidelines regarding auto-posting, we will check if we can implement it for the Blog2Social auto-poster for imported posts. In this case, we will inform you.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Best regards

    Benedikt

      Hi Benedikt!

I do understand that Instagram is not natively supported but are there any workarounds that you have seen work in terms of a plug in scheduling a post and then having B2S trigger an autopost to instagram?

      anyone else on the forum?

      thanks,
      Eric

        Hello Eric,

        Thanks for your reply.

If you want to share your posts on Instagram via auto-poster, it’s necessary to use the first auto-poster which is triggered by clicking on “Publish” / “Schedule” in your WordPress backend post editor.
How do I auto-post and auto-schedule my own blog posts on social media?

Unfortunately, there is no alternative solution, as Instagram restricts auto-posting for automatically generated content, including imported RSS feeds and content created via plugins. If Instagram revises these guidelines in the future, we will notify you.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

        Best regards

        Benedikt
