  • Autoposter not working on newly created site

    Hi,

I just replaced our old news blog with a new one I made in local. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the autoposter to work yet.
We have two main user accounts on Wordpress: one as administrator for the IT team (that's me) and one as editor for the editorial team who use it to post articles. The old blog had a single administrator account which was used by both the IT team and the editorial team.
I connected the Facebook page using the Facebook account of the editorial chief, who is one of the Facebook page administrators and whose account runs on the PC from which the articles are usually posted. I set the autoposter and checked the 'Post' box, leaving the others unchecked. The same settings worked perfectly on the old site. The posts are based on a template I created in Elementor.
Could someone please give me some advice on how to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out.

To ensure the autoposter functions correctly, please make sure that the autoposter settings are applied to the user who is listed as the author of the article on WordPress. If the editorial team is posting the articles, the autoposter should be configured under their user account.

You can find more detailed information in our FAQ here: How to Auto-Post and Auto-Schedule Blog Posts on Social Media.

Additionally, please check if posting manually is successful and if there are any notifications in the Blog2Social notifications tab that indicate issues with the posting process.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,
    Philippe

      Hi,

Thank you for your support. I'm sorry if it's taken so long to reply, but we've had to make some other fixes to our site.

We applied the autoposter settings to the users listed as the authors of the posts and it now works, although sometimes it randomly skips some posts on Facebook. But the main issue now is that the posts are showing up on Facebook with just the site URL, with no images nor title/text attached. I used the debugger tool and it returns a 403 error ("URL returned a bad HTTP response code"). The Open Graph tags look to be correct.

What can we do to fix this issue?

      Thanks again for your attention!

        Hello,

        Thanks for your reply.

There can be various reasons for this. Issues with images are often caused by missing or conflicting metadata (Open Graph Tags). Facebook will always display the information of your source code / link since Blog2Social just sends your link towards Facebook.

After that, Facebook tries to fetch the necessary information (“og:image”) from your links source code. For example, if it takes too long fetching the information, if your website is not available or if there are multiple tags in your source code, this could cause issues. These guides show you:
Why is my image not displayed in my social media posts?
What are open graph tags and what do I use them for?
Troubleshooting: Checklist and solutions for setting Open Graph Tags

I'd recommend making sure that you’re using only one plugin for setting your metadata, that your security plugins are not set too strict and that your image / website is available so Facebook can fetch the necessary information properly.

        Best regards

        Benedikt
