  • Not posting to Twitter properly

For the last few days posting to Twitter (X) isn't working properly - the image posted on Twitter doesn't click to my website - it just shows the image. I have the "Image" selected in the template of settings in the plugin. If I tick "Add link at end of post" it posts a link and no image.

Everything was working ok until a couple of days ago - all new posts are like this but if I repost older posts they work ok on Twitter.

    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out.

As far as I understand you're sharing “Image” posts on Twitter since clicking on your image does not forward to your website but displays your image. If you want to share link posts to guide your community to your website, please select the format “Link” in your post templates (see attached screenshot).
How to use post templates for social media posts?

Please also make sure that your images are in “jpg” or “png” format and fit the requirements of Twitter.
Why is my image not displayed in my social media posts?

Please let me know if it worked out or if you have any other questions.

    Best regards

    Benedikt

Thanks for the reply - I've set the template as in your image but the Twitter post has just a link to the website and no image - the preview is correct in the template but not on Twitter.

        Hello,

        Thanks for your response.

When checking your link / Twitter post, the image was displayed properly on Twitter. Did you adjust this post?

        Best regards

How odd - I haven't changed anything but it seems to have corrected itself - that post wasn't displaying correctly yesterday but is now. I've published a new post and that's ok too! Thanks for your response.

            Hello,

            Thanks for your feedback.

There can be various reasons for this. In general, issues with images are often caused by missing or conflicting metadata (Open Graph Tags / Twitter Cards).
Twitter and any other social media network will always display the information they find in the source code of your link since Blog2Social just sends your link towards them. After that, Twitter tries to fetch the necessary information (“twitter:image”) from your links source code.

            These guides show you exactly:
What are open graph tags and what do I use them for?
Troubleshooting: Checklist and solutions for setting Open Graph Tags

This could also have been caused by a temporary issue of Twitter itself.

            Best regards

            Benedikt

The missing image on Twitter posts is still happening - it started a couple of weeks ago, then it seemed to go back to working ok, but a couple of days later the images stopped working again. The odd thing is that if I repost old posts that were originally ok, the image shows - it's just new posts that are not showing images. I've not chaged anything on my site and have followed your guidelines to find a solution but nothing seems to work.

As requested - here's the twitter template settings:

                Hello,

                Thanks for your response.

When checking the source code of your latest tweet I noticed that your “Twitter:Cards” are not set by Blog2Social. Please note that this behavior is not caused by Blog2Social because we’re just sending your link towards Twitter. Your already shared tweets are probably displaying images since Twitter already cached the image of the specific links.

In addition, I noticed the following notification when trying to access your website:
Please allow ads on our site
Looks like you're using an ad blocker. We rely on advertising to help fund our site.

Please be aware that, for example, security plugins could cause this as well if Twitter cannot fetch your “Twitter:image” correctly.

                Best regards

                Benedikt

I'm confused because in the page source I can see for the same post it says that Blog2Social has set the Twitter cards (unless I'm misunderstanding) -

                    Hello,

                    Thanks for your reply.

I’ve checked the source code of this post once again and did not see anything of Blog2Social (see attached screenshot).
However, please note that Blog2Social just sends your link towards Twitter and has no influence on Twitter fetching your image. There can be various reasons for issues when trying to fetch your image.

I've discovered that I can see Blog2Social in the source code when I'm logged in to the site but can't see it (like you) when I'm not logged in - do you have any suggestions?

                        Hello,

                        Thanks for your feedback.

I’d recommend checking this with your webmaster since this seems to be caused in your individual WP / website environment. Usually, everyone should see this when checking the source code of your website.

Please let me know if you have further questions regarding Blog2Social.

                        Best regards

                        Benedikt
