Hello Steve,
Thank you for reaching out.
Of course, your images can be shared on Mastodon. I could imagine that this is a misunderstanding. This note refers to the text you have entered in the text box and counts the letters you have used.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards
Benedikt

I'm having trouble posting images to Mastodon. While image posting works fine on other social networks, my Mastodon posts consistently fail. I've tested with JPEG files (latest test was 112KB) but haven't had success.
Using mastodon.art instance, my profile is @witchphotographer.
Here's an example of a failed post:

Hello Steve,
Thank you for your response.
Kindly tell me a little more in detail and with screenshots of how you proceed in Blog2Social (step by step) so I’m able to take a closer look.
It also would be great if you could attach the images that you have tried to post so far on Mastodon.
Best regards

Just tried again, and Mastodon worked! This time I reposted an old post, that had several images. I swapped the first image, for the third image and made this change populated throughout all posts (apply this image to all posts).
However, several channels (Bluesky, Instagram, Google business profile, Flickr) complained with this error...
"Your post could not be posted, because your image is not available or the image source does not allow to publish."
Linkedin, Reddit, were linked posts. Worked.
I have checked 'add linked url' in the linkedin image template.
Reddit says the link will automatically be added.
Bluesky failed to send the picture, it was an image post. Image posts have worked in the past. I have not selected to add a link, to image posts within the template. TBC the text arrived, the image did not error. All seemed good. But, no image arrived.
Mastodon seems to have sent a link post, but it doesn't report any type. There is no way to pick the type within the Mastodon template. Merely says that the link will be automatically added to the post.
Instagram and Google, Flickr, failed to send text nor image, errored as above. They've worked before.
In summary...
It is odd that Bluesky, Instagram, Flickr and Google failed where they worked before. The error isn't much use. As it was an old post, I'll need to check if it's a jpeg or webp.
I need to figure out the best methods: image or links for each channel as well as which works. It may be an idea, to post twice, each to a set, or collection of networks.
I'll keep testing Mastodon. How it suddenly worked, I've no clue.
I like this plugin. Going to buy it soon 🥰Last edited by Steve Hooker; 01-20-2025, 12:33 PM.

Hello Steve,
Thank you for your feedback.
There can be various reasons for this notification. For example, when using “webp” images or plugins that automatically convert your “jpg” images into “webp” format. Some networks do not support “webp” images in general. Kindly check the troubleshooting steps in this guide:
Why is my image not displayed in my social media posts?
If you want us to check your mentioned behavior regarding Mastodon, it would be great if you could explain step by step and with screenshots how you proceed in Blog2Social. Please also attach the link to your related WordPress post that you tried to share.
Best regards
Benedikt

Indeed, the issue with Bluesky, Instagram, Google, and Flickr was a WebP. All my old posts have been converted, upon upload to WebP with a now remove plugin. I've re-uploaded the image and ensured that I sent a JPEG for those four, and they posted fine :- )
Now, I know that old posts have WebP, it'll be easier, and I'll be more careful.
I'll try again, with Mastodon. I hope that whatever problem I had before has cleared. I wonder, if, in this case, a WebP was sent, by mistake, but arrived successfully, will have anything to do with my first problem.
Of course, if I find further issues, I'll come back with screenshots and a complete workflow. And links.

Bonjour,
Bien cordialement,
L’Équipe Blog2Social
