  • Still not posting the image to FB

I've exchanged emails with someone from Adenion about this, but all he could offer was that the images are too large. NOPE. This feature used to work, but now does not. I've not seen anything about FB changing the API or anything like that, so WHAT GIVES?

I use the free version because in my experience, buying themes and plugins makes ZERO difference on how well they work. In one case, the purchased produce was worse than the free one. The person I emailed gave no guarantee of a refund if I bought this plugin and it still didn't work, so I see no reason to spend the money.

Does anyone else have this image problem? There are no errors, nothing seems wrong, but the FB post never has an image. I have to manually go in there and edit the post. Which begs the question: why even have this plugin at all?

Anyone out there who can help with this?

Here's the FB page: https://www.facebook.com/taqueriaelvecinodecatur/ (I just manually updated a bunch of posts, but scroll down and you'll see ones w/out images. We serve FOOD, the photos are important.

    Thanks!!

    Hello Angela,

    Thank you for reaching out.

It seems there are some misunderstandings here. Since this behavior is unrelated to the Blog2Social version you are using, we did not explicitly recommend upgrading to a Premium version. Of course, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee if Blog2Social does not meet your needs. In addition, I can assure you that Blog2Social works properly on more than 70.000 websites and that there were no changes from our end.

However, please note that Blog2Social just sends the link of your WordPress post to Facebook. The rest is up to Facebook itself, as Facebook scans the source code of your post and then displays the corresponding “og:image” based on that.

For example, if it takes too long fetching the information, if your image is not available / does not fit Facebook's requirements or if there are multiple open graph tags in your source code, this can cause issues for Facebook when trying to fetch it. Please be so kind as to take a look at these guides:
Why is my image not displayed in my social media posts?
What are open graph tags and what do I use them for?
Troubleshooting: Checklist and solutions for setting Open Graph Tags

When checking a few of your posts, I noticed that the link you’re sharing does not direct to any of your posts but to a private message on Facebook (screenshot attached). This means that there is likely no "og:image" which can be displayed by Facebook.

Additionally, I noticed in a few other posts that the images you are using are either quite large (over 2500x2000 pixels) or relatively small (420x360 pixels). Therefore, I would suggest adjusting the image sizes to ensure Facebook can display them properly. Kindly refer to this guide:
What is the best image size for my social media posts?

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards

    Benedikt

That is not a pm, that is a button that FB offers. It's been there the whole time, so I doubt it has anything to do with anything. It is a post, just like the hundreds of other posts sent from WP. Sigh. I'll give a cursory look at the various things you say are wrong - BUT I HAVE CHANGED NOTHING AND THE PLUGIN USED TO WORK RELIABLY. Thanks for the response, but as I stated, this is why I don't pay for plugins. I guarantee I'd still have the issues and be out $ on top of it.

Yep, it's the plugin. I went in and reset/reconnected the page and now it works, sort of. It's picking random images that still need to be fixed. The OG tags are there and fine, it is having trouble with the page connection, which I assume would be solved with a paid version.

I'm really sorry, but plugins are ALWAYS the issue. I've spent an hour troubleshooting and it's still halfway working. I'm sure it's just the free version that is buggy, but I'll save my money at this time. Thank you for your responses. Danke schön.

          Hello Angela,

as previously mentioned, the behavior you described is not related to the Free or Premium version of Blog2Social.
Please note that this is not caused by Blog2Social since we’re just sending your link towards Facebook. When attempting to access your link, it doesn’t work because it redirects to your PM instead of your website. This means that there is likely no "og:image" which can be displayed by Facebook.

Since there can be various issues with your images, please check the recommended troubleshooting steps in this tutorial in order to solve it:
Why is my image not displayed in my social media posts?

Did you adjust the size of your images as suggested?
Is it possible that you frequently share the same link on Facebook?
Please note that Facebook does not regularly recheck the OG tags which means that if you share the link a few times, Facebook will most likely display the old OG tags (og:image) since it does not revalidate the data.

          Best regards

          Benedikt
