    Hi,

In blog2social WP backend, is there a setting so that it enters the post url to Tumblr's Content Source URL?

    Hello,

Thank you so much for reaching out and thanks for describing your request.

Blog2Social automatically sets a canonical URL in the website source code if social meta tags are enabled in your Blog2Social settings, so Tumblr can easily fetch this link.

The following instructions will guide you through the process of configuring and using Open Graph tags in Blog2Social step-by-step:
What are open graph tags and what do I use them for?
Link Preview - Troubleshooting checklist and solutions for setting Open Graph Tags
How can I change the permalink in the post preview for scheduled social media posts?

Please let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions about Blog2SOcial.
I will gladly support you further.

    Best regards
    Alexander

Correct me if I'm wrong, but without looking into it further, Tumblr is not listed as one of of the networks that use Open Graph Tags based on the link you posted?

        Hello,

Thank you so much for your reply and thanks for this feedback.

This is correct, the Open Graph metatag settings have no option for canonical links. I included these guides to provide more general information about the link/url preview topic.

When you schedule a post with Blog2Social that is still in draft status in your WordPress environment, the canonical URL will reflect your internal ID URL. The canonical URL is passed depending on the social media network you are using.

What exactly is a canonical URL?
A canonical URL points to an HTML link element with the rel="canonical" attribute, which may be located in the <head> element of your WordPress website.

        Example: <link rel="canonical" href="https://blog2social.com/index.html">

This HTML link element gives website administrators in the website source code the ability to identify the original resource in case of duplicate content. Also, this HTML link element gives search engines the URL you want and shows at which URL the content of this selected WordPress web page should be indexed.

Have no worries, the canonical URL as a link to your post in your social media posts is not visible and is automatically applied to your source code if possible by the plugin.

For a WordPress post that is still in draft, the technical URL (internal ID) ending with "?p=012345" will always link to the correct WordPress post as a link. Likewise, the link that can be specified network-specifically in an image post with a technical URL (internal ID) will also link to the post if it should be customized later on.

If you prefer to use Blog2Social to implement a canonical URL within your source code that reflects the chosen URL slug instead of the ID-based URL, you should publish the post within your WordPress environment and then schedule it to make this adjustment as intended.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions about Blog2Social.

I will gladly support you further.

        Best regards
        Alexander

Can you clarify on how Tumblr is fetching the canonical URL? And are you saying canonical URLs are always automatically added to Tumblr's Source URL field?

I need Blog2Social to automatically add my URL here in Content Source field of Tumblr post:

Click image for larger version Name:	Screen Shot 2021-11-15 at 12.39.12.png Views:	0 Size:	57.6 KB ID:	3686

And this is what that looks like as a Tumblr post:

Size:	162.4 KB

            Hello,

Thank you so much for reaching out and thanks for this feedback.

I rechecked this case for you and have the following details:

The URL that you are referring to is automatically fetched and created by Tumblr.
There is no option via the official API from Tumblr that modifies this link-title below your post content.

Any other links in the content can be created/modified by changing the HTML code which is supported:
            <p><br><i><b><a><img>

            Such as:
            <a href="https://www.blog2social.com/">External Link</a>

The link of “Read the full article” is always automatically detected and submitted to your Tumblr post in order to point back to the content origin. This is the same process as the Canonical-URL is implemented in your website source code or implemented on the Tumblr post website source code pointing back to your Tumblr post as the Canonical-URL.

Regarding your question and the attached screenshot:
The link will be automatically inserted at the end of the post. This notice is also visible on the post template screenshot you attached.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions about Blog2Social.
I will gladly support you further.

            Best regards
            Alexander

              Thanks for your response Alexander.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding but as I mentioned in my other post, is there a way to specifically edit the text that is automatically inserted at the end of the post? I understand it is automatically added and that there is a notice. The link back to the original post is fine, but we need the text to say something else other than "Read the full article".

                Hello,

                Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, this “link label” is added automatically and there is no other possible configuration that can be adjusted within Blog2Social in order to change this link text.

As mentioned beforehand, the post content data is automatically transferred via the official Tumblr API connection. Within Tumblr, you should check if it could be possible that the link-text/label can be changed manually.

Furthermore, I will gladly add your suggestion to our list for possible future developments in order to check if your request could be accomplished with additional settings that could be implemented in a future update of Blog2Social.

If and when such a functionality could be implemented, we will gladly contact you as soon as possible.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions about Blog2Social.

I will gladly support you further.

                Best regards
                Alexander
